She does her little turn on the catwalk!

I let my 18 month old pick out her own clothes. I know, I know...a dangerous road. I tell myself it is okay because so far she has yet to throw a fit or try to leave the house dressed like Lady Gaga. For the most part she prefers to dress like an 80's aerobics instructor. And for whatever reason she loves to wear extra clothes around her neck. I actually didn't notice just how often she likes to have her onesies snapped on the outside of her leggings until I looked at this months pictures all at once. I should also add that very rarely are her choices weather appropriate and when she is particularly pleased with an ensemble she runs around shouting "cool girl!!"

Without further ado, my daughter the fashionista.
Purple skinny jeans, puppy shoes, and a pink "scarf".
Shorts over leggings, this was a two day look.
Ready to start sweating to the oldies!
Event: VIP Tea Party
Attire: Pajama top, jeans, sandals, and a bucket hat.
To cool for school...and to zip up her hoodie.

It gets quiet around here...

...when there are secrets!

Now that family and friends have been told in person, to the best of our ability of course, I figure it is time for an introduction.

The newest little miracle on the way!! Baby is due April 29th. My intuition says girl, but I also thought there might be two, so who knows! So far everything looks perfect. Baby has a good strong HB and was wiggling all over the place at our NT scan. I have been feeling pretty good, not as great as I did with Lily but no where near as horrible as I did during my last pregnancy.  I am a bottomless pit of hunger and never feel full, which is far better than spending half the day with my head in the toilet. Unfortunately I have a seemingly endless headache all.the.time. I actually don't remember when the headache started but I also can't remember what life was like before either. I am certainly not complaining, it will all be worth it when we bring our healthy baby home. Technically we won't have "two under two" but we are pretty darn close!

So here I am at 13w. I regret not taking weekly pictures when I was pregnant with Lil. Especially now because I would love to compare. I do know I didn't start wearing maternity clothes until I was 16-18w last time around. I will be lucky if I make it one more week in non maternity jeans!

A trip to the fair!

After Lily's 18 month appointment on Monday we spent the afternoon at the Topsfield Fair. As a kid I looked forward to the Cumberland County Fair every year so I was really excited to start the tradition with our own family.

The weather on Monday was perfect for an afternoon outside. We started out with some lunch (pizza!) and a visit to the ducks. After lunch we scoped out some rides and decided to take Lily on her first ever Merry-Go-Round. She was a little unsure what to make of the peeling and chipped faces of the tired horses, but once we settled on one and I got on with her, she was ready to ride!

After our trip "round and round" we walked through the fair's many animal barns. They had a free petting zoo, which was almost more excitement than my tot could handle. She has no fear and did not hesitate even once about sticking her hands up to the goats, miniature horses, and sheep for some slobbery kisses. It is hard to say which animals were her favorite, she loves them all. We finished out the afternoon with another ride on the Merry -Go-Round and a fried dough. I think the fried dough may have been everyone's favorite part!

There's an 18 month old living in my house!

Lily turned 18 months old yesterday and to celebrate I took her to the doctor for some shots! The appointment went pretty much as expected. Lily screamed as soon as I started to take off her clothes, screamed more when the nurse weighed her, and totally lost her shit when it came time to measure her head.

:::there was a brief intermission from the screaming when the nurse left the room and we (I) sang Lily her ABCs 16 times:::::

When the doctor came in Lily was happily playing on the (freezing) cold floor with her new dollhouse dolls wearing nothing but a diaper and I was promptly given an application for mother of the year. She was actually pretty great while the doctor and I talked until it was time to "be looked at". I don't know whether it is the crinkly white paper or the threatening looking stethoscope, but my kid does not like to "be looked at"! More screaming ensued. In any case all checked out well and the doctor left so that Lily could get dressed and mentally prepare for what was to happen next.

Unfortunately, she had to have three shots yesterday. The nurse asked me to "hold Lily down and not let go" which I didn't think sounded like a very good plan. The kid already has enough reasons to seek revenge against me, why give her one more? So as I was holding her down I whispered into her ear an elaborate plan to get back at the nurse. Lily is a sucker for elaborate plans. When the nurse was finished she blew Lily a kiss and Lily in return gave her a dirty look. I have no idea where she learns these things. We were in such a rush to leave that I left one of Lily's new dolls in the office*, there goes mother of the year...

So without further ado, the stats and some pics...I know that is why you are here :)

The face she makes when we say "smile"

*I went back to the office for the toy only to be told that another child had taken it, only to get home to a message on the machine saying they had the doll and I could pick it up any time...phew!
