Hello 2014

Per usual I am filled with angst over the fact that I have once again failed you, my cherished readers. I am deeply sorry that I have deprived you of both my wit and the eye candy that is my adorable children. I fear that if I post pictures of them here today you will simply shake your heads and wonder, "who are these big kids and what has April done with her babies?"

All kidding aside, I really am sorry for the extended hiatus and that really, this whole year was sort of a fail for the old blog. I will be the first to admit that when I only had one adorable baby and I thought I was busy or stressed or tired, I was wrong, dead wrong. Okay, maybe not wrong, but certainly foolish. (I would also like to say that I make the previous statement as a dig on me personally. I in no way mean to imply that if you only have one child you are not busy/tired/stressed...I personally found the addition of my second child to be...enlightening, haha). I will also be the first to admit that being tired or stressed or busy will never be a good enough reason for me to stop writing. Years from now when my children are grown I will need these words, all of the millions of words, that I have used to document the happiest and hardest times in our life. I owe it to my future self to keep writing. That being said, life is a balancing act and something will have to be sacrificed in order for me to have the writing time I need. While I would love to give up wiping butts and enforcing time outs I suspect that social services might suggest that I give up my hour of mindless TV during nap. Here's the thing, and I am really going to blow your mind with this one, it is easier to sit on the couch and do nothing during nap than it is to press the keys on my laptop in a pattern which will create words and sentences. Oh, the strenuous task of pushing the keys, and don't even get me started on the words and sentences. So here it is, my earth-shattering New Year's resolution, write more. And since I recently read somewhere that it takes 21 days of doing something for it to become a habit, and then promptly read that this is in no way true...I figure that is as good a place as any to start, 21 days of blogging.

With so many exciting things happening in our lives right now I should have no trouble coming up with material. Tomorrow's post will not disappoint!!
